Embodiment Is Consciousness Itself: The Ancient Medicine of Remembrance
A reflection on the cosmic mind, the wisdom of the body, and the sacred currents of remembrance moving through our human experience.
It’s been a while. I’ve been in cave mode for a bit.
It was my 51st birthday this past weekend, and we had a magical, powerful new moon as well. Lots happening in so many threads of cosmic currents moving through all of Life.
During this time of year, I usually begin a few-month process I call a retrospective. It starts as a general review of the past months’ journey: the experiences and their medicine. The words, the emotions, the movements, the plans. All the seasonal changes, the internal and external rhythms taking shape and then changing, some only partially, others still stewing deep beneath many layers… and it all makes me feel in awe of what is.
I often say there is no coincidence, no mistake, and nothing to fix. In quiet times, when listening is free of friction, I find myself smiling at the happenings of it all with a grateful heart, often with tears, alongside hope and a profound sense of joy, walking hand in hand with grief and tiredness.
A current of knowing that soothes the thirsty layers of Minds, often left wild. Always patient, honest, and loving in ways the human small mind simply does not know how to encounter.
This current of knowing embraces us completely, meeting us in our wholeness, always. No conditions. No exceptions. Nothing to prepare or adjust.
We are already that which we try so hard to discover.
And maybe this is what my retrospective has been so revealing to me this year: a changing relationship with the very meaning of embodiment.
I see it as the relationship between the cosmic mind — infinite intelligence moving as consciousness through all expressions of Life — and the living experience of us as human beings.
For a while, there was a strong pull toward deepening the sense of being in this body, being able to hold more of our own beads of light as they continuously return back home. The focus has now shifted slightly toward a more expansive understanding of embodiment itself.
I’m looking out of my window and recognize the wind, the faded trees in the fog. The pain in my body, the holding of weight. The emotional waves, the recurring thoughts, just as the birds fly in the sky, the sound of laughter, the sunlight, and all that is.
It’s not that our own innate wisdom, always linked to the cosmic mind, comes to visit us every now and then, when we go to a retreat, when we meditate, when we purify our bodies and minds…
Embodiment is consciousness itself.
Every experience already breathes with the currents of the All, as we are part of that living field of existence. Nothing is outside the mystery of consciousness as a living intelligence that permeates the All.
Not even the tired body, the restless mind, the uncertainty, the grief, or the parts of us still learning how to soften. All of it belongs.
I’ve written about this in my books in many ways. This profound, light-filled star wisdom has begun to move through my experience of being me in a very different way lately. I’m only now beginning to find the words… and more will come, as something very meaningful is alive and soaring.
Going back to my yearly retrospective process, which usually begins around my birthday… well, this year it all began very loudly in mid-August.
Perhaps this is why I’ve been in my cave for a while…
Huge recalibrations, reorganizations, adjustments, and reconsiderations have been happening, literally at every level of experience. I think this is true for so many of us.
And when moments get quiet enough for listening to hold us softly, there it is: the beautiful, strong reminder to return to what nurtures during great times of transition and transformation.
For me, this takes shape through the practices of ancient vibrational sciences, Qigong, especially still postures, participating in the internal alchemy of presence, where thresholds open to vastness, ready to be explored.
The body softens. The emotions and thoughts are met with care.
Here we are, meeting the mind of the cosmos as us.
How magical the deep knowing that all of it is sacred. All of it.
Additionally, as it often does through dreams, synchronicities, and deliberate, precise guidance, my attention has been drawn into deep reverence and communion with a few special ancient texts, whose mystical symbolism and temple wisdom speak through time to the very nature of our human experience. These precious words have met me in profound resonance with the processes already unfolding within me.
There is something extraordinary about the language of the cosmos, how wisdom finds its way to us through so many seemingly unrelated currents, illuminating what is already stirring within our own experience.
And through these encounters, a deeper recognition continues to emerge: that we are not separate, in a much more expansive sense, and that embodiment is not the destination of consciousness, but consciousness itself.
So if you’ve been going through some stirring, some internal movements that words cannot name yet, or your mental and emotional bodies move restlessly trying to ‘figure it all out’… well, perhaps you can return to quiet contemplation and whatever nurturing practices support listening.
Not to become something other than what you are, but to be okay with being vulnerable, and to meet more authentically what is already here.
The language of the cosmos is the beautiful relationship of currents in motion. Softness is one way to gather the messages of guidance.
Let’s remember, we are beings of light constantly moving through light.
A few invitations for contemplation
You may simply sit with these questions in your mind, or engage in a writing conversation with yourself and your higher guidance system. You may bring one or more of these questions to mind as you fall asleep and ask to be shown in dreamtime.
Follow your intuition and embrace your whole being with loving care.
What has been asking for my attention… repeatedly, or quietly?
What wishes to be softened?
What does my body know before language forms around it?
What part of me is learning to breathe again?
Thank you for being here & journey well.
